ABOUT THE FESTIVAL


The Hysterical Festival is a celebration of fierce female humor debuting in New York City in October 2008. Showcasing the wide range of ways in which women are funny, we aim to both entertain and break new ground for female comedic artists. 

The Festival runs October 15-18 at Comix Comedy Club, The Zipper Theater, The Tank @ DCTV & Tribeca FIlm Center, and will include work by cutting-edge stand-up comedians, world-renowned burlesque performers, award-winning improv and sketch groups, seasoned solo performers, writers and filmmakers, as well as a panel discussion co-sponsored by New York Women in Film and Television as part of our aim enrich and expand our local community of female humorists.

Talent will be locally curated for this inaugural event, as we showcase women who represent an aesthetic of wit, intelligence, chutzpah and hard work—all of the things that we value and support as women and entertainers.  As the festival moves forward, we will continue to seek out the hottest, most original club, theater and alternative-venue talent to support and promote, as well as taking
a moment to raise our glasses to the hysterical women who continue to inspire us all.
